Spectocculour: Experiments with light

“What happens when the discomforting flickers that light up lives, are put together in one place?

Does it transpose us to an exalted world
of subliminal harmony
or does it discomfort us
to rethink and re-adjust our visions to the realities around?"

Of the many ways, we define urbanity the culture of the spectacle becomes the fundamental one. Flashy lights, vehicular traffic, neo signs, screaming billboards and hitting wall colours all sum up to create the dystopian spectacle of the city. To catch the eye in the moment of passing defines the fast pace of our vision and life in the city. This show attempted to question this urban phenomenon by recreating the experience through personal encounters with light and colour. It tries to engage the viewer in experiencing differences thereby talking about the various hierarchies that define this spectacular culture of consumption.
